Testing
Evaluation can be conducted for students with learning problems, behavioral/emotional concerns, and other health issues affecting educational performance. Typical health issues include, but are not limited to, traumatic brain injuries, genetic disorders, mental retardation, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Individual student evaluations include interviews with teacher and parent/guardian, one-on-one assessment with student, interpretive report of test results and determination of disability, as well as recommendations for intervention.
Assessments may include intellectual, achievement, personality, developmental and behavioral measures. We are experienced in evaluating and treating children as young as age 2. We also conduct evaluations of potentially gifted students. In addition to evaluating children and teens, we are happy to complete assessments with adults, but regret that we do not see adults for treatment; however, we will make treatment recommendations and referrals.
Intervention
Following the evaluation, test results and treatment recommendations will be shared with parents/guardians and/or clients. Intervention may involve subject-specific academic strategies, short-term counseling, family counseling, social skills activities, organization and study skills training, impulse control strategies, and many other treatment methods depending on the needs of the client.
Consultation
We are available for consultation with client's teachers, sitters, and other important people to promote continuity of treatment. We are also available for telephone consultation with clients or their parents/guardians between regularly scheduled appointments.
Service Fees
An initial/intake session is billed at $150.00 per hour. The intake lasts approximately one hour and is designed to discuss the reason for the referral, as well as to gather background information. Testing is billed at $150.00 per hour, with a typical evaluation taking four to six hours. Two to three hours will be spent working directly with the client, while the remaining time is spend on interpretation of test results and report writing. Follow-up and treatment session are billed at $105 and last 45-50 minutes.
